Thanks...
I couldn't find the exact one we got from Camping World but it is something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Medi...tress+extender

We have since scrapped that plan. The one we got wasn't the same thickness as our mattress and was even harder to make the bed. The mattress with the extension left no room between the mattress and the wall but it didn't bunch up. What we are using now is a regular queen 2" mattress topper. Original plan was to use it to smooth the lump due to the gap in thickness of the mattress. This issue was explained either earlier in this thread or another thread. The topper was something we already had. We planned on cutting it to fit because It is longer than the camper mattress but the part that folds down at the foot ended up adding to the length. Not the best solution but it has worked the last couple of trips. The bed is the only thing we don't like about the Melbourne.

Thanks...
Went from white knuckles around trucks and windy weather to a more enjoyable ride and drive.

Very easy to install yourself. Also I installed these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but the most Benefit came from the sway bar.

Did you install the Hellwig and Sumosprings on the 2016 Melbourne 24k or the Sprinter work van?
Going to those websites I can't get my 2017 Melbourne 24k/sprinter to come up.
Let me know
Thanks

It was installed on the Melbourne. My Melbourne Is a 2016 Jayco on a 2015 Mercedes Sprinter chassis. You need to find out what year your chassis is. Most likely a 2016 (could even be a 2015)because there was a delay on 2017 Sprinters at least passenger and cargo models. Then search for your year chassis and Mb Sprinter and not under Jayco. Like I said a very easy install even for a novice.

Most likely the one I linked to will fit a 2016 or 2017 model. Also it is a 3500 series not the 2500. For some reason I cant edit on this forum.

Changed the year to 2016 and the products you used came up. Installing won't be a problem. Haven't really looked but I thought the Melbourne had a sway bay-is this one just more robust?
Thanks for the replies and info.

Very easy. I don't remember the metric socket and I think there is a metric hex that you will need but there are just 4 bolts that are in the axle and 2 shoulder bolts on the ends. It was a little fiddly by myself getting the bar in place and starting the screws but after that it was no problem. First time maybe a hour total but if I had to do it again less than half that. You will need a torque wrench as well to do it right. If you are ever south of Atlanta, I have the tools and would be more than happy to help.

Good Info, Pfflyer.
Understandably, sway/road holding control is improved with your "upgrades".
What about the ride characteristics? A bit stiffer? Thumping on rougher roadways, etc.?
Just wondering.

We just had some minor warranty work completed by our dealer. Must commend Camping World in Kaysville, UT. In and out in one day.

I was going to put this on the slide topper thread, but in a nutshell, this Camping World doesn't want to take the risk. I gave them all the information...every page of the topper discussion, including the pictures that were submitted. They will look into it again, but they especially don't want to drill into the fascia. It's a hard decision to make; and I believe if we truly follow through and get the awnings, we're going to have to find someone else to do the job. We'll give them a little more time to investigate the issue.

On another note, we asked about putting in another forward-facing seat belt in the booth area. They said they could do it, but they'd have to put in more reinforcement to make it safe. We're not going to do it - too expensive and the reinforcements would take up more storage space. The reason we asked about it in the first place is that we felt that two passengers would be more comfortable facing forward, and we could also accommodate our daughter's family of three.

One more thing. While we were having all of our servicing completed, including a day at the Mercedes dealer to have our one-year check up and oil change as well as our Camping World warranty visit, we camped for the three nights. Both dealers were within 6 miles on either side of our favorite little campground. It was perfect. Well, last night I opened the big closet door across from the bathroom sink, and the inside part of the door broke away from the frame. Upon further inspection, we observed that the tiny back closet has three hinges while this large door has only two. We don't know if that was one of the contributing factors of the break; but when we have the door replaced (again under warranty), we're going to add a central hinge just for safe keeping. In the meantime, we're repairing the door ourselves, putting braces on the corners on the inside of the door and adding that third hinge.

Well how about that! Then maybe that is why ours broke! Something else to tell our dealer when we go for the warranty on it. Thanks for the info.

We have a 2016 Melbourne 24K. Last weekend one of the stabilizer supports broke off. It will be repaired under warranty next week.
