2017 Melbourne Stabilizer Jacks

I recently purchased a 2017 Jayco Melbourne with stabilizer jacks. I was under the impression that they jacks would retract when the engine was started. Mine don't. Any comments?

They should retract if you put it in gear. Mine will alarm if deployed and start the engine, but will not retract automatically until I shift into a forward or reverse gear. I don’t have a Melbourne, but do have a 2017 GreyHawk.

although I try to remember to retract them “manually”, when I forget, sometimes my stabilizers retract automatically when I start the engine and sometimes not until I put it in gear...I can’t explain why.

Thanks for the info. I thought that was the way they worked but last time I started the engine the jacks didn't retract. I don't know if I put the RV in gear. I'll check it out next time I have a chance.

Thanks

Thanks, I'll check it out again. I thought they were retracting when I started the engine, but that may have been the steps I heard. I'll check on putting it in gear next time I have a chance.

Thanks for the reply.

Does the parking brake have anything to do with it? If the parking brake is engaged, doesn't that keep the jacks down?

Thumbs up Jayco Melbourne Stabilizer Jacks

I went and checked the jacks out on our RV and, sure enough, if you release the parking brakes the jacks retract. I haven't had this thing very long and I'm finding out there are a number of things that don't work with the parking brake engaged. I guess I need to go to that as my first checklist item when I think something is malfunctioning. For example, the DVD player won't work unless you apply the parking brake twice and then leave it on. The RV poiice don't want us watching videos while we drive, I guess.

Thanks for the information.

John
