2017 Seneca freshwater tank

Tried to fill my freshwater tank the other day and could only get it to fill at a rate of 2 gal./min. Valves were set per the chart 1 & 6 and the inlet screen was clean. Any ideas on what is the problem.

Vent restricted? Some people add vent shut offs to prevent losing water while traveling.

Filter plugged? Filter valves all the way open?

Using pressure regulator? What is your flow rate filling a bucket?

I donít have the same water valve setup so not sure what the correct positions are on your unit. I have four valves.

Normally the unit goes into check valve/ screen to the filter housing with shut off valves then to the tank inlet. So pretty straight shot.

Post what you find.

So far I have not found the problem if there really is one. I have done this..turned off 1/4 turn innlet valve to the filter to verify that incoming water goes thru the filter then the tank..checked flow rate again, I have a flow meter that connects on the hose, and it is 2gpm with 1/2" hose and 2.2gpm with 5/8 hose. Removed filter, reinstalled the canister and checked flow rate again..no change..open hose flow rate is 4gpm. I have not yet found the tank vent but I doubt that when first starting to fill an empty tank that a closed vent would have a great impact.

On my Winnebago. the filler was large enough for air to escape at that point. With Jayco as you know the system is different. I have no idea how the air escapes this system.

Tried to use my flow meter but it failed during the calibration. It read 3.7 when I had filled a five gallon container. So it was a bust.

Why do you need a gadget to fill the Fw-tank, full is full. It will overflow in the vent hose.
Nice thing about liquid it will seek the lowest point.

The reason for using a flow meter is there are certain times when I do not want to carry a full tank of fresh water due to the weight so by using the flow meter I can calculate the amount of weight I am adding. This may not be a concern for everybody but for me is it very useful

I removed the panel in front of the tank. I now have full view of the tank and can see the tank levels as well as more storage in the compartment.

When I am filling the tank, I turn on the water and walk around and look directly at the tank level. Makes it very easy and accurate.

Also, by removing the panel I can easily fit three folding chairs below the tank.
