2018.5 Seneca trailer hitch issue

So the build sheet on my 2018.5 Seneca with the S2RV chassis says I have a 12k hitch, the label on the hitch got painted over when the coach was painted so I just assumed I had a 12k hitch. Well we were at an RV show and I noticed that a 2018.5 Seneca had a different hitch than mine, it had a Curt and mine is Pullrite. I start scraping on the paint on my label and see 1000 lb tongue weigh so I know I have a 10k hitch not 12k. I contact customer service and after a couple days verify I have a 10k hitch and they say they will not replace it with a 12k hitch even though it was on the build sheet! I have sent an email back saying it was their mistake and want it swapped and I will see what they say. If the regular customer service channels dont come thorough, does anybody have a number or email further up the chain to contact?


I suspect this happened on early builds and they were just trying to use up the supply of 10k hitches. So if you have an early build 2018.5 Seneca, you pull heavy loads and think you have a 12k hitch, better check and make sure!!

Email from purchasing dealer told me to contact the person I am already in contact with at Jayco.

After a few emails from me it went from “we’ll see what we can do” to “we will replace under warranty”

I mainly want to warn other 2018.5 Senecas to check their hitch if the ever plan on hauling heavy loads, or even resale to make sure the correct hitch was installed.

Persistence pays off! If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Call and/or email whichever company is involved until you get the answer you want. (When calling you almost get a different person each time.)
