Why are you welding on the frame? Some more specific info might help here.

When I had a friend add a piece of metal for my hydraulic support he said the below which matches what others have mentioned relating to welding. I don't weld, but this is what we did when I watched him fixing up my unit. Remember, finding and fixing something fried is much more expensive than having someone do it that has experience.

For any welding, disconnect the chassis/engine battery, the house battery, incoming solar power and street power. No voltage anywhere incoming/usable.

When you are welding, put the clamp as close to the location you are welding as possible so the volt/amps take the path of least resistance/shortest path from the rod to the clamp. Make sure the area clamped on to is clean direct metal. No paint, debris, etc.

I agree with mini4mw

I welded additional support for my spare tire carrier under the Greyhawk and since I disconnected everything, I had no problems. You will probably lose any stored radio stations so you may take note of what they are. Engine codes i.e. smog device codes may be lost so you may not pass a smog test until driving it for a while so the system can reset.
Good Luck
