Welcome to the group, I hope you find a Seneca you like!

You didn't say whether you are considering a new unit or used, but be advised that the ScanGauge unit is different based on the year Freightliner you end up with. So when you do get your Seneca you need to be specific when you buy the ScanGauge. Some owners had to return theirs or wait for a new compatible cord before it would work. I don't know how many "versions" there are but the one on my 2014 won't work on newer Senecas!

Like others have said, "would not be without it" especially with the inaccurate fuel gauge. You can purchase it direct from Scangauge or as I did, I purchased it online from Advanced Autoparts as they typically have coupons for up to 25% your purchase. Mine is a 2017 and I did have to get a different cable from ScanGauge as the one that came in the package was for an older model as stated by Rob. ScanGauge sent the new one without hesitation and told me to keep the other one just incase I might be able to use it on a different unit
Hope this helps

Thanks! Looking to buy used. Probably 2016 or older. I guess it depends on the ODB type plug it connects to? I just watched a quick YouTube video on one. I'll investigate further when I get a chance, but apparently they can predict fuel usage/mileage among other things?

It can monitor a significant number of parameters, you get to decide what is displayed at any given time. It can display instantaneous and/or average fuel mileage, but it is the "Trips" function that can be used to track actual fuel used. Like Mark S stated earlier, the fuel used quantity I see tends to closely parallel what I end up putting back into the tank at the next fill up.

In my attached picture you can see my ScanGauge which I mounted to my headliner up high to the left. Lots of variety in where folks mount their units. You can see I typically monitor voltage, average MPG, turbo boost, and transmission temperature, but that is just me. But there is so much more available!

M2 chassis fuel tank capacity

My tanks are marked 54 US gallons. My Seneca is a 2016.

That is different than any other M2-based Seneca I have seen. Others (mine included) have a 40-gallon passenger side tank and a 34-gallon driver side. The driver side is smaller so as to accommodate the 6-gallon DEF tank.

two questions, what chassis on the advanced web site for the scan gauge, and the second is, the specs on the 2018 say 100 gallon fuel tank, just curious as I have not picked up the coach

My Seneca is a 2017 so my chassis is a M2 106 Your 2018 depends on whether you have the the M2 or the new S2RV

It probably will not make a difference as it is still a Freightliner/Cummins engine and the OBD port should be the same the same for either chassis
