2018 Seneca electrical issues.

Took the HJ on a spring shakedown run today and ran into a few issues with the house batteries/electrical system. Kids were watching some tv on the road and the house batteries went down to 12.4 volts. At that time the Garmin fusion stopped working, the tv still worked, other electrical outlets stopped, and the steps stopped working. Started the generator and got the batteries back up to full charge, shut down the satellite, tv, dvd, all outlets and by the time we got home 2 hours later the batteries were back down to 12.4 volts and the steps would not deploy again. Are the batteries bad? Phantom draw? Any input would be appreciated. Removed the batteries for the winter and charged them fully. Checked charge and topped off before I reinstalled this spring. I keep it plugged into a 50 amp service at home with the disconnect engaged most of the time.

The panel in my Seneca pretty much reads 12.4 all the time unless plugged in or generator is running then I see 13.2, even after a full day of watching tv. Lowest I have seen mine is 11.9 and then I fire up the generator, this is with 4 brand new 6 volt batteries. Not all the plug ins work off the inverter, the kitchen ones don’t in mine.I remember reading something about what causes steps to stop working so maybe somebody else can answer that. Pretty sure the Garmin runs off of the chassis batteries and not the coach batteries.

I just saw a post about something with a breaker under the drivers seat. I’m going to check that tomorrow.

Sounds like some sort of short occurred (not related the battery discharge), but perhaps a bad ground connection to the batteries.
It also sounds like the fuse(s) on the 12 volt disconnect relay may have failed, causing the steps (and other 'outlets') to stop working.

That’s what I thought too. But it seems to be isolated to just the steps, Garmin fusion, leveling system, and outlets not associated with the entertainment system. Plug it in to shore power and everything works fine. Run the generator for a while and things start to work again.

Problem solved. Breaker on the chassis batteries was tripped. Went into my scan gauge and had a low voltage fault code and saw another post in the forum for low voltage issues. They were having the same problem as me in my 2018 Seneca.

On top of the chassis batteries under the driver's seat. Mine mounted on a Jayco-fabricated bracket over the batteries. Manually resettable breaker.i
