I would not mount much on the bumper at all. The bumper was not designed for it. Use a hitch mount.

I too installed a front mount hitch receiver. Using a Curt brand spare tire carrier. I like having the weight forward and convenience of being able to easily check spare tire pressure.

If you want to use rear mount, I would still use a hitch mount spare tire carrier. The bumper is not designed or built to carry the weight.

If I was to mount a spare it would def be on front like Bullitt did. Keeps the weight off the rear and up front where it's needed. Plus that rear bumper is not heavy enough to support that much weight...your asking for trouble back there.

Cooling

Is there any adverse effect with engine cooling? I’m thinking that it might block airflow to the radiator - I like the idea of moving the weight to the front Les

Several thousand miles since I mounted it, and no noticeable changes to engine temperature.

X2. By the factory temp guage, I couldn't detect any difference. Plan to install a Scan Guage so I can monitor actual engine and transmission temps.

Also front mounted tire carrier with tire attached acts as a great air dam.

I personally do not want to block any front end airflow, in extreme conditions hills, mountains and high ambient temps you may need that airflow.
I have a 2018 Redhawk 22c and am considering a rear bumper mt. made by Stromberg Carlson #VFX9330.
I really think I should carry a spare but there is no room, so my choice would be the rear bumper.

Be careful mounting things to the thin metal rear bumper....
Here's a random picture from the web showing an example of failure with a light trailer tire and a couple of bicycles.

Back hitch mount would be out if you have a toad. We would have to go either front bumper or put in back of our Toy. Highlander Toad

I wouldn’t drive without a spare, ever! Just had a blowout this past June when my tow dolly hit a drive shaft on i95! I always get flats on every vehicle I’ve owned!

So the most cost effective way to add one to my 2019 Redhawk was to purchase a trailer spare tongue mount, $41 open box on Amazon, junkyard rim off EBay $60, a tire off Walmart’s website with correct specs $87.

I installed the mount on the rear bumper, drivers side, right at the welds. I know most comments on this site say not to trust the bumper welds but they look pretty good to me and I’ve been checking them regularly on my trips. Total weight added was 90lbs. I do plan on having a welding shop double check and see if they recommend further reinforcement.

Had to use 4”x4” blocking to mount the rim on the inside. It does stick out further than I would like, but it works for now.

The design of the Roadmaster tire carrier has a receiver which still allows pulling a toad.
I have the tire carrier on the front hitch now, but next year I'm putting it on the rear so I can put the bicycle rack on the front hitch.

It's not necessarily the welds themselves, but the metal next to the welds which was affected by the welding heat and where the stress is highest.
