2019 Melbourne 24L Dry Camp no AC Electric

Well, the title says it all. I've always camped with hook-ups but we decided to try our hand at dry camping. Fortunately I decided to do a test run in the driveway. I cannot get any AC power with battery only. DC seems to be fine. AC works when I'm plugged in or the generator is connected. As I've researched on this forum the Transfer Switch seems to be the culprit in many maladies. Any ideas?
Thanks, CD

DC needs inverter for AC power. I have a switch to turn my inverter on. I believe there's also a switch/reset button on the inverter itself.

The inverter also only powers 1 outlet.

Your battery is no where near big enough to start your AC let alone run it unless you upgraded your battery which would be a several grand upgrade at the least and maybe only get a couple hours of run time. The ac will only run off generator or shore power from the factory so I suspect everything is working as it should. I hope a salesman didn't tell you that it would.

Thanks to both respondents. I realized I should have titled the thread "2019 Melbourne 24L Dry Camp no AC electric." Mini4mw is on the right track.
I'm embarrassed to say but I've come to the conclusion that I don't have an inverter. I got on the phone with Jayco, they sent me schematics, and I don't see an inverter anywhere but in the legend. So, is this something that can be added?
Thanks again, CD

Sorry for being way off base on my response. It is something that could be added. What are planning on using it to power?

Yep, there is no inverter in your rig. You either have to plug into shore power or run your generator.

It can be added (I added one in my rig), but you'll need a good battery bank to run it, depending on what AC items you want to be on. You'll also need to add a relay to power a specific circuit, or add new outlets powered by the inverter.

Again, nice to have this corporate knowledge at my fingertips. I started looking at the schematic for the 120V system and the only thing I would miss is the air conditioner/heater. If I read the schematic correctly the water heater is AC/DC and the water pump DC. So the only thing I need the inverter for is charging iGadgets.
Does anyone have experience with the portable inverters? I see 500W for $40, maybe that's all I really need. I hate to admit but I just purchased two AGMs before I got the no-inverter surprise.

The inverter you are looking at would be fine for what you want. With that said why not just buy a 12v charging station.

As far as I know (evidently I don't know my RV as well as I should), I don't have a 12V plug that connects to the house batteries. I picked the Bestek 500W because it is "Amazon Choice" in category and comes with cigarette and clamp connectors.

The 2016 24K doesn’t have a 12v socket type but there are a couple USB chargers incorporated in a AC wall plate which doesn’t solve your issue. I aggree with Grumpy about adding 12v outlets verse converting 12vDC to 120V AC then back down to a Lower DC voltage. It wouldn’t be that hard to wire some 12v outlets Directly to the house battery. Not sure what year your chassis is but in a pinch the 12v socket under the cup holders is always hot. You also don’t want to leave anything plugged in that could run the starter battery down. You going to put the 2 AGM’s in the pass through compartment like another user here.
Also My water heater is propane/AC.

What about powering the TV, microwave or coffeemaker? Will you want to power any of them?

If just charging iGadgets, get one of these for your dashboard cig outlet. You can charge and monitor the chassis battery voltage at the same time.

I agree, if he wanted to put in a little bit of work, an add on 12v outlet panel. I installed a similar outlet to this in my sink cabinet, next to the other switches, to give me some power in the kitchen area and to be able to monitor the house battery voltages:

The way we camp having lack of 12v outlets hasn't been an issue but I was planning on a voltage meter in the same area you are talking about. Added this to my wish list because why not add some while fishing wires.

AC = electric power 120 volts. A/C = air conditioning. This is why we use the two different indications.

I have added the word "Electric" to the title of this thread to hopefully end any confusion of the topic.

BTW, you DO know that was clarified in post #4 above, right?

Or, do you NOT read the rest of the posts in the thread?

Yes Sir, read everyone. Just making sure that Pfflyer now knows the difference.

Maybe you should spread the word. These are just from recent posts.

There was one more where it was used correctly in the title but was referred “wrong” in one of the responses. Again this is just in the 3 or 4 pages of new posts.
