2019 Seneca

Hello All,
Ordered a 2018.5....was asked if we would like to wait for a 2019 with a delivery for May. Sure, why not.
Besides four new paint schemes. For us with a FS model, residential refrig is standard (electric propane optional) and 10 gallon atwood heater (no truma). No more Garmin Fusion. And the back AC heat pump is now 13500 versus 15000 btu. Then some different furniture types, big bowl in the bathroom versus dropdown sink. Pretty much what I can remember off of the top of a somewhat pointy head.

I had talked to Jayco a month ago about putting a fireplace and pop-up TV in the 37TS in place of the small sofa inside left of the entry door similar to the Dynamax DX3. Apparently the pop-up TV is coming on the 19 in place of the swing out above the cab, but no fireplace yet. We shall see.

I wonder why they would downsize one of the AC units? When it was over 100 on our West trip we needed all the cooling we could get!

And if you are referring to one of those glass bowls that sits on top of the vanity I hope it is an option! I can just see my grandsons trying to brush their teeth over one of those! Fashion over function I guess.

Same here... in hot weather, the rear AC is what keeps everything survivable as the front is not capable of cooling that space without some help.

Is this the demise that so many on the forum talked about? Cutting corners everywhere to save a buck? I really like our Seneca - and would not like this change.

It looks like the base MSRP for them is jumping quite a bit.

Base MSRP on my 2018.5 37TS that was just delivered to the dealer on Friday
Is $238,669.00

Base MSRP on a 2019 37TS is $246,443.00

That’s a jump of $7,774.00 for a smaller AC and some new paint colors. I hope there is more upgrades we don’t know about for that jump but if not really glad I got my 2018.5.

I wondered about the move to the residential refrig and the atwood also. We were comfortable with any of the options and like both the residential refrig and the ten gallon atwood. I forgot to add they are moving to 4 6v batteries also. Not excited about the smaller a/c either.

My Seneca came originally with an early Girard tankless water heater. Never worked well. I changed it out myself to an Atwood XT 10-gallon gas/electric unit and have been very happy. Plus I now can heat water with (free) campground electricity. Although the reviews of the Truma HWH have been positive, it still forces you to burn propane whenever you want hot water.

Good to see the new units are supposed to have 6-volt "real" deep-cycle batteries. Many of us with units a few years old switched ours to 6-volts because the original "dual purpose" or marine 12-volt batteries were not great. And if one opts for the residential refrigerator, battery bank capacity will become even more important.

Now if Jayco would install an Aqua-Hot diesel/electric hydronic heating/hot water system I would be real interested!

First thing I did when I got my 2018.5 home was 4 - 6 volt Trojans. I had just put 2 new in our old moho last November and they haven’t been used so I pulled them, bought 2 more and put them in the Seneca. Put 2 -12’s back in the old moho to sell an the other 2 went in the pontoon boat . We boondock a lot and don’t like the idea of a residential fridge, friends have them and they don’t like how much they have to run the genny. We’ll see how the Truma goes, never had a tankless but don’t like the idea of the wasted water waiting for the hot. I really liked out old Winnebago, the HW tank had coils that used the engine coolant so when driving we always had Hot water.

Not happy about some of those 2019 changes FloSen listed

I have a 37FS on order - due in May- the changes for 2019 I have been told are the residential fridge, the dryer on the air system is now included, 4 different exterior paint schemes.

FloSen listed - no truma not happy, smaller a/c heat pump not happy, and don’t love the bowl for a sink (may add extra counter top space though).

If I can figure out how to post the exterior paint schemes I will.

I like some of the new paint especially the Shadow Creek and Erin Hills, but boy they are a lot of dark colors to sit in the sun and draw heat and get dusty.

The change to the S2RV chassis starting on the 2018.5 does have an air drying system on the chassis, along with an air horn. We just got back from a week of boondocking and we are not happy with the Truma at all on our 2018.5. We have the 37RB and while I like a fairly warm shower, the wife like a HOT shower and running off the water pump the Truma get fairly warm in the rear shower which is close to the WH but the kitchen sink water barely gets warm even after running a couple minutes. Also we checked the weather and one night it got down to 27 degrees, according The a manual supplement, the Truma should be “winterized” if the ambient temp is 39 degrees or less Haven’t looked to see if there are any adjustments yet but seeing the 2019 now has a 10 gallon Atwood, I assume Jayco has had a few complaints. Going to be contacting them to see what can be done to get a 10 gallon Atwood installed.

I agree with with Rusty nuts, the 10 gallon gas electric way better than the base truma that they put in the 18s. You cant even have freeze protection in the trumas unless you upgrade for big bucks and find a place to do the upgrade, sucks!

We had the upgrade performed to comfort, which allows you to essentially preheat the water when you are planning to take a shower. I don’t notice a difference, but some others feel they notice hotter water faster. Also, you get freeze protection settings. If your leave it in comfort on cold nights I also believe it can heat that bay keeping lines from freezing. I would not recommend the gentleman who did mine as he left it leaking and wouldn’t make arrangements to fix it and I had to fix (he did refund labor). We boondocked exclusively for the last year in ours and it worked very well even down to 4 degrees without problems.

Thanks for the information on the truma

Makes me think I may be better off with the standard Atwood

Did you try pushing the button near the bottom of the steering wheel column?

The battery tray is right behind the drivers door and chassis batteries are on the back of the tray towards the frame.
