2020 Melbourne - Auxiliary Battery Malfunction

Just took my Melbourne out for our first trip, and within minutes got an auxiliary battery malfunction code, followed by a red SOS light that has stayed on every sense. The Aux. Battery message comes up on every start, and like the SOS turns on after about 30 minutes.

Any tips aside from taking it in the be looked at? Do these every have an aux. battery? I'm pretty sure the SOS system is not enabled on this rig too...

Thanks!

Unless they changed, MB did not install an auxiliary battery on the chassis Jayco bought. I don’t know if the MB computer is linked to the house battery installed by Jayco. I wouldn’t think it would be. SOS may not be enabled but could be installed. If you haven’t seen the build sheet from MB I can try to get you one or supply you a link. I got mine from a contributor at the Sprinter-forum and since then I think there was a link but I would need to find it if you are interested. The build sheet will give you all the options installed by MB on your VIN number. Not important to have but informative.

Here is the link to get your build sheet or data card. This is only for the chassis side and not what Jayco installed.

https://www.lastvin.com/

or

https://carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/mercedes/vin_check

Hope this helps.

We had the dealer swap out the battery. It's a small battery under the drivers seat and MB told us it's common those degrade and can die after sitting on RV lots. It's hard to get to so suggest you have the dealer swap it unless you want a bigger project. The SOS thing was unrelated and MB has issued a notification on the issue. There is no fix at present for the 2020 Melbournes.

Here is a link that I found after I posted the above comments that is relevant to this topic especially if your disconnect the chassis battery for any length of time.

I have the same error. Can you tell me what this battery is for? Should I take my MH to a MB dealership or Jayco. Thank you

It is a Mercedes-Benz issue not Jayco. I think that auxiliary battery has something to do if the transmission does not engage in park or something like that. Not sure anymore
They replaced mine under warranty but then I bought a battery tender and hooked up to that auxiliary battery Every time we were parked for more than a few days.

Thanks for the info! I found a YouTube tutorial on the subject and will hunt down that little bugger today. Happy that it’s nothing to do with the house battery. Camping world where I bought my rig had no clue!
