2020 Melbourne coach door lock

My door lock seems to have turned and I can only unlock it and the key will not come back out unless I turn it to the lock position. Anyone have any ideas on what happened and how to fix it?

Perhaps mine is different, but I have to turn the key all the way one direction to lock it then halfway back to remove the key. If I turn it all the way, it unlocks it.

mine use to turn counter clockwise to open the door and turn back half way to get key out. i would turn clockwise to lock the door and then back to get key out.
now if I turn it counter clockwise to open door and then turn back to take key out it locks the door.

We had issues with the coach door lock on our Melbourne.
I called a locksmith, who I had used on the past and trusted.
Those locks are cheap cheap cheap, he told me. And replacements are too.
We decided this: He would remove the lock and examine it for damage. What had happened is that one of the five (?) tumbler tags had broken. Options were to replace the entire apparatus. Or reinstall if with only four tumblers. I chose the latter.
His advice was simply to insert and remove the key gently. Or regularly buy new locks.

Thanks for your reply. Since this is still under warranty I will get in touch with Jayco for replacement. As for it being cheap that is the way Jayco builds things.

PAL70: My recollection of the experience with the locksmith is that he told me that many RV manufacturers use the same low-end door lock.
And I seem to recall that when I went online to look for a new one that I could try to replace myself, just about the only replacements were identical to the original....and that's not what I was hoping for.....
