2023 odyssey bunk over cab stress cracked windshield

I just went out to my rv that has been sitting in the driveway and noticed a stress crack in the lower drivers side of the glass in the bunk over cab. This wasn’t there a couple of days ago and there is nothing that could have dropped on it so it appears to be a stress crack. Now I have to figure out how to get it replaced. I have a couple of questions.

Is this something the rv,s warranty will cover or will I have to put it on my insurance? Next, where do I get it fixed ? Is this something a windshield company can do or do I have to bring it back to a dealer. My concern is why did this happen and is there something wrong that caused it.

Any information is appreciated.
Thank you

I'm bringing it in tonight so they can take pictures to submit to Entegra. Fingers crossed that it gets fixed without too much trouble.

FYI,

I contacted Entegra who told me to talk to my local Camping World. I contacted Camping World who had me bring it in and leave it for a few days so they could take pictures to submit for warranty repair. Today I receive a call from Camping World who tells me that it's a bonded windshield and I need a glass company to fix it ( no kidding) so I need to contact Entegra.

I'm amazed at just how clueless manufacturers and dealers are about their own products. Time to call Entegra again to see where they send me next

What they need to do is send a new cap windshield with seals and instructions to an auto glass shop by you. That is who I would trust to get it installed with no leaks.

Yeah, that's what they ( Entegra ) had me do but now they say the glass place is too expensive ($1200 for labor) so they don't want to pay. They are now calling around trying to find a cheaper place, but they aren't having luck, so I'm not sure what's next.

That sucks. Looks like you are the only cracked cap glass on this site. I am sure there have been others and Entegra & Jayco have been thru this. They should gorilla glass coat it like Jeep windshields.

Meili, did you get it replaced? Who did it and how did the warranty claim go?

Entegra didn't like the labor cost so they started calling around trying to find a better deal but weren't successful so we are going with the original quote. I have an appointment on 10/11 to finally get it fixed. Thankfully, it's not likely the crack would get worse so we have been using the RV otherwise we would have been without one for the last few months.

I will give Entegra credit that they never once questioned covering the repair. Once we figured out who would do the repair they quickly drop-shipped the window to the installer.

Mine was cracked all the way across. Ended up taking it to a windshield glass company. They said they have done about 6 of these so far. They have a scaffolding to access the nose area and install the automotive glass. Cost me about $1900 for parts and labor. I dropped it off and had it back the next day. Called Jayco dealer and they quoted me $1200 just for the glass. So far pleased with the results.

This does not sound good. Wonder if it is a flexing problem causing this?

The window was replaced last week and everything looks as good as new. It was a long process but Entegra did make good on the repair. After finally agreeing on a repair location Enterga shipped the window. I dropped the RV off for two days then picked it up and Entegra handled the rest.

What kind of shop replaced it? Wondering if I should get a hurricane window film put on mine before my Alaska trip.

It was a shop that did everything from car to residential to commercial so basically anything with glass. My understanding is the installation is just like any automotive windshield install just a bit bigger and higher off the ground. The biggest problem was they had to use scaffolding to get to it.

Did they have any idea what caused that? Like too tight of a fit or flexing.

Unfortunately, they didn't mention what could have caused the crack.

I think that what's causing this is they've basically permanently bonded the glass to the fiberglass. Glass and fiberglass expand and contract at different rates but because there's zero give allowed in the install, it breaks.

Does anyone know of a shop in SC, NC or VA that has successfully done one of these repairs? I've found one place willing to do it and they don't seem very confident they'll be able to do the repair without damaging another part of the fiberglass or the new windshield.

Thanks!
