26xd water filter?

We want to remove the water filter in our 2016 26xd. There is not enough storage space in the bathroom as is. Anyone remove this filter and by pass the the entire filter?

68 views and not one word of advice. On our maiden voyage, Enfield, NC, freezing temps getting all kinds of advice from the old Itasca forum.

I'm confused: It appeared to me that you seeking responses from other 2016 26xd owners about removing and bypassing their water filter. Are you seeking advice from all JOF members and Itasca members about water filters?

My TT doesn't have a built in water filter. However, I do have an external filter and softening setup that I connect to my TT. Would it be helpful to you if I posted information about that?

Any RV we've ever had that had a built in water filter in an interior space, we deleted completely. It's bad business in my opinion to have a water filter inside of any RV. One motorhome had it built into a wet bay, so no big deal if something leaked. Present rig, I do run a filter, but it's on a bracket on the rear bumper near the water inlet.

I agree, I don't see any purpose - only potential problems having a removable filter inside the living area.

We bypassed ours and forgot about it. I use one in my service bay and before that outside the rig.

We have a Greyhawk 31FS with the water filter under the sink (not too much room under there). Since we don't drink water from the RV (we use bottled spring water) I will be removing the assembly and hooking up a bypass this spring. The first year owning it we forgot to remove the water before winterizing. The following spring we found it shattered. Won't do that again.

Thanks for all the replies, in the 26xd the water filter is under the bathroom sink and takes up way to much space. Stopped at a camping world and picked up a bypass hose. Will remove the filter when we get to Florida. I will post up upon the removal. Sorry for the frustrated post.
