31 ds modification

We have a 2016 31 ds Greyhawk and the Lower rear compartment
seems to only serve to access the tanks and pips.
Has anyone every enclosed that compartment?

I questioned this at the dealer and at the factory.Ironically, neither had a good explanation. What wasted space. At least put removable cabinet or shelves in there! I love our 2016 31DS, but sometimes I wonder if the people in the design department ever touch or set foot in one!!!
