A/C dry docking

Hello, noobie question here. How do I get the A/C to turn in when not connected to electricity. I thought it ran off my generator but the air conditioner is not turning on. What do I need to know for the A/C to work? TIA

Did you check the breaker on the generator?

It should "just work", no additional action required.

Some diagnosis steps-
plug into shore power.
microwave lit up, does it work?
turn on AC, does it work?
assume all OK with 120V.

Disconnect shore power.
start generator, let run a couple minutes.
microwave lit up, does it work?
turn on AC, does it work?
Do 12V lights, bath fan, stove exhaust fan work? (AC needs 12V also).

it'd help to know what year and model RV and generator you have as well. I know with my Greyhawk it will run everything in the unit including both AC units. It does take about 10-20 seconds while it warms up before the power turns on.
