Adding a compass

We would like to add a stand alone compass to our Melbourne 24K - one that is not a part of the navigation system and can be seen at any time. Anyone have recommendations on one that could easily be added?

I bought a mirror with temp and compass in it was not to bad for wiring for power supply and sensor. And it cut down on clutter on the dash

If you're looking for one that's not electronic, a marine store would have some.

I like the compass / temperature rearview mirror units, I'll probably go with that one but while you're at the parts store or on line, you'll find several magnetic compass' that mount on the dash board above the steering wheel. You'll have to get at least a rough idea of how accurate the magnetic unit is. It is going to be mounted in a mostly steel box. But telling you generally the direction you're going should be accurate enough, after all you're not navigating over the open sea. I too like having a compass at the wheel, it kind of reassures me. (Many decades of landfalls after navigating over open seas.)
