Adding Battery Capacity question

Been a little while since I have posted here. My 2011 Greyhawk 31FS's single 12 volt coach battery runs out too quickly now when boon docking at music festivals. I have ordered a couple of 12 volt AGM deep cell batteries that I hope to install this week. There is only enough room on the slide box where the coach battery goes, but I think I can install a second 12 volt battery in the storage bay next door and drill a hole to run the battery cables to the battery in the slide box. Now my question is, does it matter when I wire them in parallel if the negative to ground cable is on the same battery as the positive cable that runs back into the motor home. Most of the diagrams I see show the positive connecting to the first battery and the negative to ground running from the second battery. It will be a much more simple project if I only have to run cables from the new second battery to the new battery in the slide box. Any expertise will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

It is a lot easier to let you read the document on why you do not want to wire your 12 volt battery bank to the first battery's Positive and Negative terminal. This link goes to my album, click on the purple colored document and read it. It gives you the actual amps being drawn by each battery hooked up to the first battery as you mentioned.

All batteries hooked up this way MUST be the same Mfr/Model/Ah rating/Mfr Date

Well worth the extra few feet of cable.

The batteries do not equally get discarded or charged equally ,

all solar system battery banks you attach the positive to the first (+) battery and the negative to the last battery (-) this makes all the battery connect equally to act as one

you can find this correct wiring diagram on go powers inverter install and outback battery bank design for the outback flex max fm-60 charge controller

I have 690 watts solar , 4 interstate gc2-Ecl-UTl batteries hocked as one big 12 volt bank , 450 amp hr 12 volt , using a outback flex max 60 amp charge controller , go power 30 amp transfer switch and go power 3000 watt heavy duty modified sign inverter , not there current version, no whines in fans or tv inter ference , this inverter As Built so heavy and so well I would say it’s a full syn wave inverter
