adding topper to bedroom slide out on 2018 Jayco class c

Our 2019 jayco class c 22j came with a bedroom slideout topper. We have a friend that wants to add a topper to their 2018 jayco class c. Dealer says they have to change gutter to fit the topper. Has anyone added a topper to their 2018 unit and did you need to change gutter???

A bedroom slide on our 2019 Entegra Odyssey 26D (by Jayco) required a new gutter attachment. In fact the dealer said a topper couldn't be installed until I sent them a picture from the internet showing a slide topper on that unit.

A slightly different situation maybe, but our Greyhawk came with the appropriate gutter installed from the factory. Our unit did not come with toppers installed, but I plan to install them in the future. Part of that decision stems from the fact that the rig already has the right gutters. If it didn't, I don't know that I would be as anxious to install toppers.

So it may or may not need a new gutter, depends on what's on there...

We have a fifth wheel, and it might be different than yours, but all our slides had gutters. We took our trailer to the Jayco factory and they put in slide toppers for about half what the dealer wanted.
They removed all the gutters and mounted the topper in the same spot.

It was less than $900 for all three toppers professionally factory installed.

Happy with Jayco factory service.

I did install my slide topper for 26Y. No need to to remove gutter. The rail already there, just hook it up.
