Adding Vent Fan to roof vent

I have a 2019 Redhawk 25R. It has a vent over the bed with no fan. Does anyone know if there is a 12 volt supply up there to add a fan?

Just pull the plastic trim ring, the wires should be visible.

Grumpy, just had a follow on question as I’ve been contemplating the same. Where would the wires run, or would you have to have the switch at the fan?

The fans that I have seen have a switch built into the fan body. The ceiling is low enough my wife can reach it. It also has 3 speeds and reverse speeds.

I hope that’s the case Grumpy, that would be great. If not I could try and snake to the 12v off the bathroom fan unit as long as its power to fixture and not power to wall switch.

If you can figure out how you are able to get power to it, they make fans with remote controls, so you do not have to reach or climb on the bed to adjust the direction and speed.

I plan on just putting a retro fit vortex fan in the vent. Nothing fancy or anything that would require removing and replacing an entire unit from the roof.

If there's a ceiling light close by, you may be able to snake wires from there, also.

Good idea jflight! I will look at everything when I get it out of service next week. I just hope the amperage draw is not to much if I jump off an existing circuit.

The circuit should be 15 amps, and I'd have to find our wiring diagram to see how many lights and things are on that one fuse in ours.

No, the hot side goes to the switch, but you'd tap into the power wire before the switch. It'll have 12 volts all the time.

Or tap into the wires just before the switch. Whatever is hot all the time so the fan works when you want it to.

I'm basing this as the light you're pulling power from has the switch on the light itself, not from a wall switch, which is what you may be wanting to do.

I installed a Maxx Air fan in the bedroom vent of our Redhawk. I used a remote control version for convenience. There was no unswitched DC power source that I could find anywhere near the vent.

There is an outside storage compartment under the bedroom slide out that has a switched light fixture. I sourced unswitched DC power from there. Ran it back into the main wire chase and then through the wall into the bedroom. I used surface mount cable raceway to route it up the wall, along the edge of the ceiling and over to the vent opening.

I got the surface mount raceway at Home Depot in a shade that closely matches the wall. Amazon also has it. Looks just fine. My DW even gave it two thumbs up.

Looks like you have an outside kitchen back there that probably give you a power source.
