Adjustable Water Pressure Regulator

When working with an adjustable water pressure regulator, what is the highest yet still safe pressure one can set the regulator to for a Greyhawk? Is it 50, 55, 60, 65 PSI or what? I would like to set it to maximize incoming pressure without damaging or compromising the system. Does anyone know what the motorhome water system PSI is rated at from the factory?

PEX lines are normally rated at 100 psi; 45 psi should suit you fine.

Thanks, what would be wrong with, say, 60 lbs then?

You'll be good at 60 too. Based on our experience, we see much lower pressures being supplied by the CG anyway.

Thank you. I appreciate your response. I just want to have good shower pressure, if it is too high in a campground without compromising my system. The max of 60 sounds reasonable.

I run mine at 50-55 as sometimes below that the water pressure in the shower is lacking greatly. Interestingly, it will still vary with each campground, so I have to make minor adjustments on occassion to keep it in that range.

The only time I had a problem was back when I was using the cheap flow restrictors. I got into a campground that had high pressure (maybe 80 plus?) and came back to the coach one evening after dinner with friends to water on the floor. The hoses were fine, but it overpowered a fitting on my water heater. I tightened the fitting and bought an adjustable pressure regulator the next day. No trouble since.

I don't know what type adjustable regulator you have, but I hope it is a good one. Most devices (e.g., CAMCO's) also severely restrict water flow rate, but a residential type like the Watts flows the same at any pressure. I went with this fixed 55 psi regulator as a cost compromise with the Watts unit https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/Fixed.htm We use it in conjunction with a Rain Bird test gauge to check the actual pressure.

So if you're disappointed with the flowrate, consider such alternatives.

Change your shower head to an Oxygenics you will get a much better shower no matter what the pressure. We keep ours set to 55, and yes many campgrounds have lower pressure, (nothing you can do about that) but also many have very high (over 140 psi) pressure, especially out west in the mountains.

Good Luck and Happy Camping
