Air Horn

I picked up an air horn to add to our 2017 Seneca. For you guys that have added a horn I'd like to know where you mounted it. Attached picture would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help!

Most I have seen mount them to the frame on the passenger side behind the bumper. I have the factory air horn on my 2018.5 Seneca but I also added a second Cunningham Air Whistle. I made a bracket to use 2 factory holes already in the frame and mounted it in front of the drivers side front shock.

Where it can go... depends on the size of the horn and the model of your Seneca.

Ours is a 2015 FK on the M2 chassis... it went in the space under the passenger side bulkehad where the cab/coach meets.

Pictures will follow

yes... everyone knows...

but I challenge you to get it without tools to reach it.

and those with enough bad judgement to try and use it, I am not challenging - as that would put me in some sort of liability for damages incurred if they did! -- but beware!

Flyroter, JimmyD, Mark S and others have met and know that Ellie, Ned and Oliver are on the other side of that door.

Ironically... we are gathering a nice collection of our Seneca's surveillance video of a few that have come up and approached our door - and when Ned/Ellie/Oliver let them know that they are in harm's way... they turn around and leave very briskly.

Does the 2015 have the hydraulic brakes and the air tank is just for the air bags and parking brake like the 2014? Any issues with tying into the air tank for the horn?

Yes, Hydraulic Service Brakes and Air Parking Brake - same as the 2014.

If you look at the pictures I posted, The third shows a blue air line and a Protection valve that is required for air accessories. That valve will shut the air-flow to the horn/other items on the output port when the input pressure from the tank falls below 80PSI (safe operating pressure). I just added the T and the Protection valve to the fittings on the tank - ran the line to the air-horn manifold valve and was done.

It was really easy, did it while we were out on the road in Texas. I spent more time putting cardboard down so that I did not have to crawl under the Seneca as the ground was covered in sharp stickers.

Thank you sir! Are you happy with the air horn you used and would you recommend it? If so do you have a make/model #?

Grand General Mega Size Train Horn. It works very well. Even our dog's don't like it.

If you want something different, keep an eye out for used Cunningham Air Whistles, they are loud and have a different tone that gets attention. The one I put on is a 1A and is about 145 dB, typically used here in Oregon on logging yarders as a signal horn. You can get larger ones but they can be expensive.....I just like something different.

Here is one like I put on.

This is one I'm looking for.

OK, this is s a slight thread hijack, but it does have some relevance, honest...

Back in my dim and distant youth, I spent a lot of time working in Munich, Germany... a city which has a lot of street-cars. They run on rails, and usually have at least two cars, articulated in the middle. Thus, it pays to keep out of their way when they go around corners.

To let you know that you need to let them pass, the driver (engineer?) has a huge electric bell that can be heard blocks away. (not the dainty, ting-a-ling of the San Francisco cars, this is a real, "Out of my way, dammit!* CLANG! (Or "KLANG")

I once rode a cab, whose driver had managed to get hold of one, and hidden it under the hood somewhere. When traffic started to pile up, he hit the Big Red Button, and CLANG - all the cars pulled over, like magic, then looked puzzled. Where was the street car? By that time, the cab had zipped though, the driver grinning evilly

Probably illegal, and certainly unpopular... but handy if you're trying to catch a plane :-)
