All rear lights stopped working/ went out

I have 1991 jayco class c moterhome. Its a 23 footer on a Chevy g30 chasis. A few months ago all my rear lights stopped working, we checked the fuses and it wasn't that. What really confuses me is they randomly started working again 2 or 3 times, but went out again the same day. I can't afford to take it to a shop so if someone could point me in the right direction to troubleshoot and repair the problem myself, it would be greatly appreciated.

I had a vehicle once that did that and the cause was a faulty turn signal switch under the steering wheel also check headlight switch

I had my rear lights go out in Nasville one night. It turned out to be a bulb on top of the cab. The bulb power shorted to ground and effectively interrupted power to all of the bulbs downstream from it. I'd check for a shorted bulb or bulb socket. Hope this helps.
