Any ideas

I am trying to come up with ideas in how to keep both of ours dogs back in Motorhome or at least behind our front seats! I did have a small doggie gate behind us but it doesn't want to stay in place,and I know I really should crate them for their safety but anyone have ideas?

How big are they? Asking because I just discovered a soft sided "pop out" pet carrier in my 5th wheel basement today. It's actually kind of big (maybe 2 1/2' or 3' long) and it folds up perfectly flat. Something like that might work well for a small dog. A dog with any weight would just roll it around though unless you could stabilize it somehow.

I had he same issue with mine. Kept wanting to crawl into my lap.

I used a short length of rope to keep her behind the drivers seat. i attached the other end to the metal handrail by the door.

Given their respective weights, I'd assume they're at least "mature". Would a little discipline and training still work?

I would suggest safety harnesses for each dog that are secured to seat belts. There are even adjustable length straps that connect the seatbelt to the harnesses.

Search pet harness for car for several sites and styles to choose from.

Not 100 % but some locations now require them.

A good idea anyway if you believe in safety belts for you and others than why not for pets? Don't want them flying around and getting crunched.

We carry anywhere from 2 to 5 with us (one is a 135 pound Newfoundland). We just put an expandable baby gate behind the seats, blocking the access to the cab. They still have the rest of the coach to wander around in, and access to their food and water.

Yes they are trained but it was there first trip in Motorhome they were was excited

We have two Lab's and a Border Collie/Boxer and they all three are trained to stay in the back. Sometimes when we are getting close to the destination, they think they can encroach a little - but a reminder is all they usually need.

We used the Baby Fence (2)of them wire tied together in out National and now with the Gray Hawk we only need one...........

We use harness and have them hooked to seat belts on sofa. Stopped fast once and would have had a flat dog on the windshield without it!
Also bought a soft side kennel. Lasted an hour. She chewed her way put of it!

We are going through some of the same thing. We are working on training them to remain on their small pads all the time the motorhome is in motion, and then we place the pads where they can reach them. Dogs can wander a bit, but when we tell them to get on their pillow, they are learning to mind those orders.

We were keeping the puppy in her kennel in the middle of the aisle. My wife likes it that way, but I think it's a royal pain in the arse. Kennel has to move each time we want to access the back for the rest room or food/water/beer. Just kidding on the beer. The pillow/pads idea seems to work somewhat. Although, the puppy loves to crawl back into the space behind my seat, which is about 15" wide between the back of my seat and the slide out wall. She seems to like it, so we'll be putting her pillow back there.
