Anyone see this?
Was underneath my 2019 Greyhawk 29mv installing my tire covers when I noticed a bolt rubbing a hole in my black water tank. I know I’m out of warranty, but since this was a manufacturer error, I’m hoping for some Jayco help on the repair costs. So far unsuccessfully.
Any idea how to patch the hole?

Things settle and move, especially after over 40 years of shaking on the road. I'd just cut off the exposed threaded section of the bolt with an angle grinder, smooth it up nicely, and patch the hole with epoxy or some type of plastic welding kit.

That's exactly what I would do. It is hard to tell from the picture angle, but it sure looks like he could cut that bolt off right between the taper and first thread and have plenty of clearance.

There is a previous post on this issue. I trimmed the end of that bolt off. Luckily I caught in time before it made a hole in the black tank.

I'm thinking to put one of those endcaps from the axles on how they package a bicycle into a box to prevent it from poking a hole in the cardboard. This could be an added protection.

Get a cutting wheel and cut the end of the bolt off.

Had same problem
Filed down and rounded the bolt end. Filled damaged area with JB Weld. Shaped a small piece of flashing to match match the shape of the tank corner. Used construction adhesive to hold it in place. That was 4 years ago. Everything holding together and no rubbing. Good luck!

I found the same on my 2020 Greyhawk 29mvp. Like others, I cut off the end of the bolt and applied J-B Weld material for extra measure. All of the pictures posted look the same but no one reports a leak. I am suspicious that Jayco scores the black tank to make room for the bolt during manufacturing and it is not from rubbing. I reported the issue to Jayco but did not get a response.

Camper Bob,,,,,,Thanks very much for this heads up. Looked under my 2018 Greyhawk 31fs today ,found the bolt but I am lucky we have at least 1/2 inch clearance. I did make sure my tank is tightly secured. I have 20,000 miles and we have made (2) two trips from our home on the Florida Gulf Coast to Canada and back so hopefully my tank will not be moving around any time soon . I also put a rubber insulator on the bolt just for good measure…..

Same exact thing happened to me. Had it on the list to be repaired under warranty and since it wasn't leaking they just repaired it. Not sure how but it was all they would do. Cut bolt off of course.

I would not try to plastic weld it given it’s location unless you’re a good welder. I would fill that small void with 2 part epoxy and let it cure. Then shape a piece of plastic using a thin cheap cutting board and a heat gun that fits the corner and overlaps the area by a couple of inches on all sides then use 3M 5200 to adhere the plastic in place. This piece of plastic will help prevent the 2 part epoxy from popping off due to any expansion or contraction.
