Auto Leveling Jacks
Newbie question about auto leveling hydraulic system..... On my 2013 Jayco 37FS, nearly everytime i use the auto leveling feature at least one wheel on the RV is off the ground....maybe only a 1/4", but has been as much as nearly an inch...... it seems to me that this cant be good, and I guess maybe i need to use leveling blocks? But then it also seems like the point of the onboard leveling system is so that it is quick and easy.
Help!

You may need to have them recalibrated, or do it yourself. If you have the Bigfoot Levelers, they have "GREAT" tech support and customer service. Give them a call.

Front wheels raised off the ground seems ok, but not the duels in the rear. I didn't realize the jacks went that high without blocks.

I have Bigfoot levelers, if the ground is uneven, they will lift different corners or halves, of the motorhome off the ground if necessary. Always feels stable inside.

I just called Quadra manufacturing about this. It is ok to have the wheels off of the ground. The jacks are designed for it. The only thing you should be aware of is make sure you chock the wheels if the back wheels can come off of the ground I.e you are parked with the back low then chock the front wheels. The parking brake does not work on the front wheels. They also mentioned that all 4 wheels should not under normal circumstances come off the ground. Finally it should be noted that because the Greyhawk's are optioned without limited slip rear differentials they can roll if only one rear wheel is off the ground and the motorhome transmission is in park. You must use the parking brake to lock both rear wheels.

msturtz - BTW for my HWH system to operate the MH must be in park and the parking brake engaged. Good point on the non-limited slip differential. Most would not think of that -- in time----.

The Quadra Bigfoot system will work as long as the MH is in park. You don't have to have the parking break set.

My Bigfoot system always lifts the front off the ground. I do use blocks when needed.

I also called about the wheels being off the ground. The Quadra rep said it was OK - the system will take it, but you lose stability. At the time we were on a site (the only one available) that had some slope. The Bigfoot Automatic setting lifted the rear wheels off the ground several inches. Using the Manual setting I was able to level side-to-side (which is more important to us). We were off level lengthwise, but not enough to be bothered by it. And we had the stability of the wheels contacting the ground so we thought it was a good trade off.
Edit: The Bigfoot leveling system is money well spent.

Has anyone ran into issues where the BigFoot system (when pressing auto) will run but not move any of the jacks and not level itself....thoughts on correction?

Is the key in the ignition? If the key is in the ignition and it is turned nothing will work. If that isn't it then you can try turning off the battery disconnect and then back on. Try again. Quadra has very good technical support if you need to call them.

I have been checking the Bigfoot for my Coach. Has anyone installed it themselves? I don't want to pay over 2 grand for the parts and another for installing. Guess I am cheap, but I have installed most of the improvements on my rig :0

I do know that the mounting brackets are welded to the frame not bolted.

We had the HWH system (fully automatic with an over-ride available). It would lift the font wheels when needed. One time we had drove all day, reach the evening campground, set the auto-levelers. Front wheels where off the ground. Next day, I could not get them to lower. They were stuck. I tried everything to get it to go down. Even added more hydronic fluid. Gave up. Went to eat at a local diner, and try to not worry. When I got back to the RV, it all worked just fine. Never knew hat went wrong. Yes, when the jacks retracted, the added hydraulic fluid went out the overfill tube into my catch tank.

Whenever we leveled our Motorhome and a wheel came off the ground, I would re-position the coach and drive up on blocks or a piece of rough cut hemlock and than level the coach with the hydraulic levers. I never wanted to have a wheel off the ground. Not sure if this applies to Bigfoot, but I know with our system you had to set the 'null' If the coach wasn't used for 30 days and there were some other reasons, the preset for level had to be reset.
