Backup Camera issue - only on in Park or Drive

Hey folks,

I was experimenting with the entertainment system on my 2016 Melbourne, to get my iphone synced/paired, and I'm not sure if it was something I did, or just coincidence.

But now the rear-view camera comes on when I start the engine (that is, the rv is in Park), the camera display goes away if I shift into Reverse, and comes back on when I shift into Drive.

So I now have a backup camera, that is off when I'm actually backing up. Very annoying!

I searched the forums and a few other folks have reported similar symptoms but nobody has posted a solution. Is this some weird setting I accidentally hit, or an actual issue?

Thanks!

Terry

I can't tell you exactly why, but ours did that after I had it in to have the camera replaced (bad picture) right after we bought it. When I picked it up, the camera did exactly what you're describing. Mechanic came out while we were in the parking lot and pulled the radio and reconnected a couple wires and fixed it.
No clue why yours would go from working to not. Sorry no help but we've been there.

I think these cameras have phantoms. Our backup camera worked perfectly. Then after two yeaars, we had slide topper installed, and ours would start flickering after about an hour on the road and finally go dark. We spent weeks trying to analyze - everything from the technician putting a screw through the wires and shorting things out when the topper was installed to the black topper reflecting onto the camera and making it too hot. After a season of putting up with this, we finally replaced it with an identical camera. At first it did some intermittant flickering. One day we hit a large bump and the thing went black. A day later, all of a sudden, it started working perfectly, and we haven't had a problem with it since! No rhyme or reason! Hope you solve your issues.
