Batteries in a 2019 Grew Hawk RV

I have a 2019 Jayco GreyHawk and I am trying to get as many batteries as I can to boondock. But I don't know the best place to put them that has enough support. Any suggestions? I would like to have 3 or 4 of 100 Amp lithium batteries. Has anyone added (or welded) additional support?

One person put them in the storage bay next to the existing battery. Threaded rods and bars provided the extra support needed. They may be able to repost pictures or direct you to their thread.


This is a very common question.


My Greyhawk has room for one. I believe the newer ones were changed to hold two now.


The good news is that Lithiums are 1/2 the weight so your support structure will not need to be as robust as if it had to support 4 flooded.


My current thinking is to have a local welder fab up a "battery box bracket" - and I'm going to hook the extra batteries to the frame rail. You can purchase these, but they look like several hundred bucks for just one. I'm thinking of fabbing them.

I have looked at the neighboring compartment also and that may be a solution.



The other problems with boondocking for any time with a Greyhawk is water, grey water, and black water storage. I had 115 gals of fresh water, 80 gals of grey water and 45 gals of black in the toy hauler. This Greyhawk as less than 50 gals for each of the water, gray and black. So you get enough batteries for power and have no water after a week.

If you will be replacing the house batteries with lithiums, you might consider placing these batteries inside the coach. ALso, lithiums are also much lighter than other battery types, so they might not need much additional reinforcements in an existing storage bay. Suggestion:
Under the bed, on the ledge in the rear storage compartment. It's very close to the converter, inverter, and the power distribution panel.
