Battery charging Melbourne 24L Sprinter

When I am hooked up to 30amp shore power does this charge both the house AND chassis battery?

Don’t know the answer to your question, but would like to know the answer. On another note...I have a 2019 jayco Melbourne 24L on a 2018 Sprinter chassis. Are you sure you have a 2019 on a 2020 Sprinter chassis?

It’s a 2019 Sprinter wi a 2020 24L

I talked to the shop foreman at the dealer where I bought it and he says if you’re plugged into shore power with a sprinter it will charge the house battery but not the chassis battery. He said Mercedes has a issue tying their electronics in with anybody else’s

I have a 2020 Melbourne 24L on a 2019 chassis and when I plug into shore power I know it charges the coach batteries and I assume it charges the chassis battery as well. I have heard that when the coach battery is charged the system will charge the chassis battery. I have never had to jump start the engine and from what I understand from talking to others and this forum the chassis battery will die after a week or two if not charged.

Use the force Luke.....

Just put a voltmeter on the battery and you will know for sure. Some rigs have special relays that will charge the chassis battery along with the coach while others just have a basic relay that only connects when the ignition is energized.

From what I read, these special relays may only charge the chassis battery when the coach battery is at a certain level so a single reading may not be definitive. But....if you put the voltmeter on the chassis battery, take a reading and then plug in, if the voltage goes up you are definitely charging from your shore connection.

It does not charge the chassis battery on shore power but the alternator will charge the house battery while driving. I use a Battery Tender plugged into a 120v outlet and the 12v outlet under the cup holders. This is always hot on the 2015 chassis but since yours is a different model you might want to check the manual.
