Battery compartment

We have a 2016 Jayco Greyhawk ME, we had installed a solar panel as we had one in our travel trailer and worked awesome never failed us once. Mind in the travel trailer we had 2 6 volt batteries. This motorhome battery compartment is designed for only 1 12v. This has been short of a nightmare as once the sun is gone and if drawing any juice it quickly depletes. I have went to bed with out putting furnace on or anything else and by wee hours of the morning the detector is chirping the battery is in the red. What can be killing the battery with nothing on?? So the question is has anyone modified the battery compartment or one of the storage compartments so as to change to fit 2 6v batteries. Come to the conclusion that this coach is meant for a park plugged into power, but we do a lot of dry camping with no amenities.

I've seen and participated in some recent discussions about the poor battery life of the single battery Jayco provide as stock. Two 6 volts will not fit without some modifications.

Here are a couple of old threads I bookmarked:

I'm sure there are others, but these might give you some ideas.

Good Luck!
