Battery Disconnect

My battery disconnect has stopped working. The relay is in the closed position. Is the 12volt side of the relay fused? I've checked all the known fuse locations and haven't found one associated with the disconnect.

Not much to go wrong with the battery disconnect I don't think. More than likely a fuse or breaker has tripped somewhere.

I spoke to Jayco. They said it is not a fused circuit. If it's not working, it's most likely the relay. Hard to believe that a relay would fail that quickly.

Do you know what brand of relay they use? It sounds like a bi-stable relay which means it changes state on a pulse of current and remains in state until its pulsed again. There is only a few of those out there on the market and one I personally designed and that's the reason I am asking.

I assume it's a bi-stable as well, because it works exactly as you describe. Not sure of the brand. I plan to take a look tonight and determine if it is in fact the relay and I'll let you know. Hoping I can just place a quick order with Mcmaster Carr.

I had a 2007 Gulfstream Conquest SE and the relay did the same thing. I was able to disassemble the relay and spray with contact cleaner. I never had an issue after. Good luck.

Now I know Jayco designed these motorhomes and built these motorhomes, but how dare I expect them to remember how they designed or built them. The circuit is fused and the fuse is located at the base of the relay. Fuse was out, not the relay. Easy fix. Would have been easier if Jayco knew that.

It's located at the back of the battery compartment. I couldn't get my hand through everything to get to it, so I used a set of long forceps. I had forgotten about this fuse block when I was trying to trace the circuit. There are two fuses and the battery disconnect relay located here. One fuse is for the stereo, and one is for the disconnect.

Well I b dam***! I had no idea there was a fuse located there. Bgermane you must be one prepared dude to have a long set of FORCEPS handy! You Da Man!!

I would've never looked there until Jayco told me to when my stereo stopped working. I had most of the dash pulled apart assuming some inline fuse had blown, when I finally called. And much to my amazement, these fuses don't even show up on the 12-volt wiring diagram. You can't get a hand on them without removing the battery. That's when I remembered I had a large set of forceps somewhere in the garage. Prepared? Not quite. I certainly never thought about traveling with them before this.
