Battery Issue

Hi. I just replaced my battery and now the "in" and "out" slide buttons are reversed and the "main power" light isn't on. I have no power to the control panel either, but the lights, etc. work. What the ????

I don't think so. Wouldn't that basically not work? (Or blow up the battery??)

You are probably correct. I was just thinking that when you reverse cables some electric motors will run backwards which may explain the slide controls being backwards, but there must be some other explanation. Try giving member RoyBraddy a PM, he knows quite a bit about this stuff. And welcome to the forum!

Why not just check the battery connections. The negative cable shoud have white tape on it.

Thanks Grumpy. I will check that now. Also, there were TWO negative cables.

And thanks, Crabman...I messaged Roy Braddy as per your recommendation. Waiting for his reply. I like your FORUM. It reminds me of the old days communicating on CB radio!

That is not unusual especially if you have an inverter.

Typically lights will work if the battery was backwards. I also agree that most DC motors will run "backwards". Fancier electronic require the correct polarity to work.

Sounds to me like it is backwards.....

X2 on the connections being backwards. Physically maybe your cables are in the same spot and you need to turn the battery around. Battery post negative and positive aren't always the same battery to battery.

This probably has happened to all of us one time or another... I got a NEW battery once which was the same manf and battery type.

I of course just jumped in there and pulled the bad battery out and replaced it in place with the new one and instantly blew my REVERSE POLARITY fuses. The clue I got was a quick spark when I did it haha...

The manf had the battery terminals on the opposite side of the new battery case. I didn't catch this until after I had it installed haha... Pays to watch what you are i doing I reckon...

In my working days when this happens all of the coworkers would say "OK Braddy-assume the position" then they all give you a quick kick in the butt haha....

I got kicked alot back in them ther days...
