Bauer EM door lock modification

The Bauer EM door lock is hard to close. The latch spring seems to be very stiff and therefore requires you to slam the door to get it to close. Has anyone ever modified that spring so that it is not so stiff to make it easier to open and close?

The door on my MH was getting harder and harder to close without slamming it. I had the same thoughts you did about taking some of the strength out of the spring. However, upon closer examination I found a missing screw from the door latch. Replaced that, tightened the other screw and it was much improved. Still makes a lot of racket but it closes much easier now. I can actually just push it closed rather than slamming it.

A little shot of lubricant worked wonders for mine!
