Bed lifters

After purchasing a 2019 Greyhawk Prestige, I wanted to have bed lifters installed in order to access the under bed storage only to be told by the Camping World service rep that they would have to completely rebuild the bed at a cost of $750. Why doesn't Jayco install bed lifters to begin with? Under-bed storage is pretty useless if you can't access it without getting a hernia.

CW might try to gouge you for $750, but I would bet the parts are less than $50 at an auto parts store, along with some wood from Home Depot or Lowes.

Do you have one of the floorplans where the bed moves with a slideout or one that is fixed?

Not sure about the price, but I agree the platform would have to be rebuilt. I've only lifted the bed 1 time and thought I was going to break it just doing that. It's built cheap and used the thinnest plywood and framing possible. I don't see how it could support strut's to lift the bed more then a few times without falling apart if not rebuilt the right way first.

There are a bunch of posts including pictures of installed lifts and reinforced bed frames.

I had my lifts installed by the dealer for $100 at time of purchase and they made money. They used 3/4 inch screws and did not reinforce anything.

Since I have reinforced the bed and the frame and replaced the screws with bolts that go clear through the frame and have washers as large as I could go on the outside. No problems since then except I went to a new foam mattress that is to much weight for my lifters to hold up well.
