Best Dinghy

What are the thoughts on the top five dinghys? I have a Jeep Patriot that can't be flat towed so I'm thinking about trading it in. I've also thought about buying a tow dolly for the Jeep. Thoughts on that?

Thanks.

We have had many different toweds and currently a GMC Terrain--no regrets. We prefer towing 4-down.

Towing 4 down is easier and safer in my opinion. We have used several different vehicles over the years but like the Jeeps the best. Fun to drive and explore with once you get to your destination. Here is ours.

I'm currently towing a 1994 YJ 4-down. DEAD simple to do. Only problem is that unless the weather is perfect, it's not a lot of fun to drive around a lot at destination. No AC, over-sized tires, stiff suspension, no AC, limited space, and no AC... It's easy to clean out though, and it can go pretty much anywhere!

So I'm getting ready to set up my 2015 Grand Cherokee Limited for dinghy duty. It will also be SUPER easy to tow (once I've got it set up), and it blows COLD AC, rides REALLY nice, has a low range transfer case (4x4 with this T-case is one of the things that makes it flat towable), gets great fuel economy, and is not SUPER heavy to tow (but she's not "thin" either).

ETA: Forgot to mention; I would avoid a dolly, and towing on a trailer (at least for a gas MH like the Greyhawk) introduces too much extra weight. Just my opinion, YMMV.

Odd term to me.. Round heah a dinghy is something you row to get to your moored lobstah boat. I favor a peapod.

We flat-tow a Ford Edge. Be sure engine is the V6 and not the 4 cylinder EcoBoost engine(not flat towable).

Towed a Jeep Cherokee, GMC Canyon, 1500 Silverado and a Chev Sonic. All towed well with no issues. As was mentioned flat towing is much easier than a dolly.

I towed a small Nissen p/u, 4cyl. w/ AT.

I installed a blue ox tow bar and a Remco driveshaft disconnect.

Tow 4 Down

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4x4 with a Ready Brute Elite Tow Bar System (When I can get the Jeep from our daughter at LSU.)

I too find it extremely easy to tow these Jeeps but I really don't want it to be my daily driver. (Planning on full time after retirement and then go with the Jeep.)

Great question. Thanks.
