Bigger fuel tank for a Sprinter

Just installed a bigger fuel tank on our 2018 Jayco Melbourne Supreme with a Sprinter chassis Replaced to old 26 gal tank with a S& B 47 gal tank to give more option on where to fill plus not to have to worry about running out every 5 hrs or so. My kids just took it on a trip and easily make 10 hrs now

Nice!

Our new TV, has a 50 gallon tank. I like not having to fill all the time. This last fill up was 41 gallons ($$$), and exactly 600 miles. Two trips; about 275 miles with the camper, about 220 miles camping with the scouts (no trailer) and the rest is city driving. I figured if I had been using my old truck it would have required at least 4 stops for fuel to cover all that ground.

Happy travels

That’s great. I drive a bit slower than my kids do being there trip was a 36hr drive one way and they have limited time so they did it in just over a day and a half. I will be taking it to the west coast in Nov so I see how far it will go but I’m guessing close to 800 miles

That's a great upgrade. I have always disliked the small tanks on the Sprinter platform. I'm assuming that your new tank just longer to the rear and deeper than the factory one but the same width correct?

What manufacturer tank did you purchase and did you do it yourself? How difficult was the plumbing? Our previous Super C had nearly 70 gallons onboard...allowing more fueling options along the way. The Sprinter should give me 120+ more miles on the same amount of fuel we used but I always like to land in a campground or overnight boondock with extra fuel in case emergency generator use is required or just getting an early jump out in the morning with a decent amount of fuel. Going from 70 gallons to 25 will be an adjustment. I'm in on a bigger fuel tank.

I too would like the idea of a larger tank, as it would allow boondocking/running off of the generator easier, as you can run the generator longer without worry of it shutting down when you reach the limit of the gas tank fill limit.

My son is borrowing the RV to attend the Daytona 24 hour race this weekend. He will run off of the generator at night for a few hours each night. I make sure to fill 3 five gallon gas containers for "insurance" to make sure the main gas tank has enough fuel to get back to my home, as he does not like the price tag of filling up the gas tank (That's what mom and dad do!). We have one of those luggage carriers that attaches to the trailer hitch to haul the extra gas containers. A larger tank would eliminate this.
