Question Black spots on trim - entire length

Black spots are growing on the trim, from entry door to rear. This side faces sun daily. Other shaded side has no spots. Anyone have a clue as to what the spots are, and how to remove them? I can't scrape them off; appear to be under the clear coating on the trim.

Two things come to mind 1 Mold , 2 are they painted trim ? could be paint coming off. If its Mold find something like awning mold cleaner that would be friendly on your paint. Irt is strange that this is happening on the sunny side, heat related ? Well that 3. My fifth wheel has trim like all RV's and it has discolored along the top edge and spotting.
If that does not work you can replace it with new from RV supply .

I'd say mold underneath the coating seeping in at that caulking line
Looks just like my shower, at home, under the caulk there

Not sure it will come off without stripping it.

I'd take an xacto or box cutter and try and strip aittle section off..see exactly where it's at

Good luck

Try dousing it with an anti-mold & mildew product, like "30 Second" cleaner. Start with a very small section.

Dave, is the trim removable? Some times the plastic top trim can be popped off a metal strip to reveal the fasteners underneath. So if it will pop off you could get closer to the source of the spots.

Hard to tell for sure, but looks like the paint is degrading. Mold on the sunny side seems unlikely. Maybe the plastic strip was prepped wrong or the wrong paint was used? (Non UV stable?)
