Headed to Branson. What campgrounds do you like there?

We stayed at Musicland Kampground and were very satisfied. The only cautionary note would be that the entrance is a little steep on the approach to the office. When we entered it was wet and slippery. It got a little hairy for a second.

What are you looking for?

There are a number of COE campgrounds around Table Rock Lake. Most are pretty nice but don't have swimming pools etc. Our favorite is Old Highway 86 Campground near Ridgedale, MO, about 20-30 minutes south of Branson.

If wanting to fish for trout, I'd recommend Cooper Creek, off Fall Creek Road on the banks of Lake Taneycomo. https://coopercreekresort.com/wp/

Make sure you go to Titanic. I think you need to make a reservation but it's worth the effort.

Poking at a campfire with a stick is one of life's great satisfactions.

In the mid 1960's, I spent a lot of time in the Branson area. As you are driving around think of the fact that in the 1960's, Table Rock Lake was an hour from Branson. Shepherd of the Hills and Silver Dollar City were about the halfway mark. All of those roads that go through the valleys, didn't exist and the only roads were along the tops of the ridges. I know this happens everywhere, but I really think in that part of the Ozarks it was a major change as it became a huge tourism destination. 'Shepeherd of the Hills" by Harold Bell Wright was published in 1907 and in many languages and opened up this part of the USA to many people.
