Broke off sewer y connector on 26Y

Hi,

I looked to see if anyone else had previously had this issue and couldn't find any information. I backed up into a mound of dirt last night after a very long drive home and broke off the y connector that connects the black and grey tank sewer pipes. The bracket that was holding the y connector is still there but the pipes for the black and grey are now hanging loose. It looks like it was a clean break but I am not sure how they were originally connected.

Has anyone else done this and were able to replace the connector themselves or do I need to bring it to a dealer? Who knows when they can get to it?

Is there an interim fix so that I can still use the motor home before the part might come in and it can be fixed? I use it mostly to show my dogs and am out in it a lot.

Thanks in advance.

I do not know how your piping is configured, but we have broken lots of sewer pipes over the years. If I recall correctly, the pipes are just supported by simple plumbing strap.

The pipe is just standard black ABS pipe and fittings, you can purchase just about all the replacement parts at your local DIY Hardware store. Typically the only thing you cannot get is the valves themselves at a hardware store.

It is really easy fix. If you know anyone who has done any plumbing, they help guide you to fixing it up in short order.

Broken sewer connector

This should be an easy fix. Just look for videos on YouTube and I'm sure you'll be able to do it. If you damaged the gate valve you can buy those at an RV parts center or even order one off of EBay. Good luck.

As others have said pretty basic plumbing will fix this. One other part you will likely have to order is the very last piece that has the lugs for the bayonet on your hose to attach to. If you are not handy or not comfortable doing the work any plumber should be able to make the repair so you don't have to go the dealer service route.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure of where it's broken, but if it's the actual Y fitting that's broken disregard the following!..

If you need to use it before it can be properly repaired I would get some good duct tape IF you have enough surface to tape it up.

Also if it's a simple break you may be able to cut it flush and install a coupler.

Thanks everyone.

I have found the part I need which includes the gate valves. The next problem is I need to remove the glued connections to the actual black and grey pipes. Is this possible without destroying the pipes?

So the middle part of the connector broke off leaving the gate valves connected to both grey and black pipes. Sure glad they stayed in place and also glad i dumped before I got home.

The part is Valterra T84. It is considered a double L connector, not a Y connector.

Thank you again,
Susan

Just cut back to where you can get a clean square cut. Then you may need to use the coupling that was recommended above and a short piece of pipe to get you to the edge of the camper where the old connection was.

Thank you. I was thinking I might need to cut it and use a coupler.
