Seneca Tint

Curious if anyone has put the ceramic tint on their Seneca and what was the cost.

I’m not really concerned about a tint ticket. Most our trips are to places in UT, NV, CA, or AZ where tint is barely enforced because of the heat. I also didn’t have any visibility issues on our 350 mile drive yesterday.

The quote for ceramic on my Redhawk was $200 for the passenger and driver door windows, so I would assume only slightly more than that. I went with the carbon because when parked we have The windshield cover on that blocks all the light. The tint was just for extra protection/privacy while driving.

Actually AZHP does a lot of tint enforcement since most of our gang bangers like illegal tint and it is a major danger to officers as they approach the vehicle. Also California’s laws are tougher than ours and they stop Arizona drivers with tint that is legal here and not there. Your only savior is that because of low funds there are fewer HP on the road.

Same as in Utah... Getting our Safety inspection this year - they had to input the exact readout of the tint in the inspection for it to pass.

I also have a buddy that owns a Tint / Wrap business - they are plenty busy re-installing tint that was removed due to violations.

Here in the Calif. Mojave Desert they are pretty lax at this time, But that changes with every new CHP Captain that wants to make a name for Him/Her self. Until this Covid stuff we spent a lot of time in SoNV. Now just waiting for things to open up over there.

About a year ago, we had 8 inches of tint added to the windshield right at the top and matched it 8 inches down on the two truck cab side windows. I actually think I haven't worn my sunglasses more than 3 times since then.

My son had his pickup side windows made as dark as the back windows in the crew cab and he now has to put the window down to back his trailer. I really didn't want this problem and constantly use the side mirrors. The mirrors are absolutely usable and I' m thinking of having my pickup done the same way.

Looking at the Seneca, you hardly notice the tinting because it kind of looks like a shadow from the truck cab overhang.

rgolding Your signature shows you are from Illinois. Good luck with your 8 inches on the windshield. https://www.tinting-laws.com/illinois/

We are right at 50 miles east of St. Louis, Mo. but spend Winters in Florida and Summers in upstate New York, where we are now. Headed home in 2 weeks.

Just had ours done. Ceramic tint $220. I think it ties in the cab windows with the rest of the coach now.Click image for larger version

It sure looks nice... what is the light penetration measurement? Does it pass the 33% law?

It surely would not pass in
Utah - the law is 43% of light must pass
California the law is 88% of light must pass

My buddy with the tint shop pointed me here:

Thanks. No idea what the % measurement is. I told them medium tint. Not worried about being stopped for tinted windows, there's enough knuckleheads on the road to keep LE busy.

It looks good. I wouldn’t sweat it. I agree with you, I think most cops have bigger priorities than pulling over a motorhome for window tint.

Buddy and I were driving to AZ from CA on the 8. Got pulled over a few miles before AZ for tint, then a few miles after getting into AZ for tint. When things are slow they will absolutely pull you over for tint, on any vehicle.

I agree it looks great, serves a good purpose of lowering interior heat, and I wouldn’t think twice about it...

Thank you for the wish of "Good Luck". We always need all the help we can get. Prayers are welcomed, also.

Using the Illinois law you quoted for Larger Vehicles - "Front Side windows: Must allow more than 50% of light in." We. Easily let 2/3 of 67% of the light in. So I think we are good.

Actually the darkness you see on many law enforcement vehicles these days pretty well knocks out most enforcement of this type of law.
