Cab Windows Tinted

Today I had the cab windows tinted to match the rest of the windows on the MH. It not only looks better, but I noticed an immediate difference in the sun protection when driving home from the shop.

Looks great. We were just talking about having this done. Jayco didn't even spec factory tinted windshield from Ford. Were you able to add tint to the windshield?

I didn’t do the windshield, just the door windows. Next I’ll be replacing the frosted class in the house door with tinted class.

Common practice with all vehicles in Arizona and it is illegal to put a full tint on the windshield.

We can add an eyebrow tint to the windshield, but nothing else.

There are ceramic tints out there you can put on your windshield that aren’t dark and will help with uv protection and glare.

This has been on my list for a long time. I actually need to get my Jeep done too.

I had my truck done when I towed a trailer, and it made a significant difference. And I had the windshield done with ceramic that was legal and helped with the UV protection, glare, and heat.

But other repairs keep cropping up and pushing these "optional" projects further down...

X2. Had the windshield and front side windows done in the van with ceramic and the difference was amazing. The ceramic was clear and the same thing they use on K9 vehicles. When I had my done the parking lot was full of K9 vehicles from several counties.

I've wanted to do this but we do a lot of night time driving and can barely see at night as is. [emoji38]

I see no difference with The clear ceramic at night verses no film. It does make a difference during the day though.

Glad you are happy with the outcome. BUT BEWARE! Some States (ie-Texas) prohibit tinting front side windows darker than 35%. In other words, matching the 20% or so tint on the 'house' will get you a big NO on your inspection/renewal. Looks great and I know it helps! All of my vehicles are tinted and if I ever go the motorhome route, it will be too.

Arizona has laws on how much tinting is allowed on various windows and nothing other than an "eyebrow" on the windshield as someone mentioned earlier. Highway Patrol does cite for it. Too much tinting on the front door windows is a danger for officers approaching. They cannot see what is going on inside.

California used to be "death" on too much tinting. I don't know now but their law was more strict than Arizona and for awhile they were picking us off.

They are coming up with new products all of the time so ceramic is good but carbon also.

There is no way you could survive inside a vehicle in our heat (115 today) without some sort of tinting on the windows. Even the air conditioner can't keep up.

We have tinting laws in NV as well, but it’s almost never enforced because of how hot it gets here.

And you had better know the laws in your state. When I had my truck windows tinted, the guy asked how dark I wanted to go, and I told him the darkest legal and gave him the number. He said he could go darker than that, and no one would bother me about it. I said "no thanks, I'll stay legal".

If I hadn't known the law before I went, I could have gotten in trouble...

Some officers also carry a tint meter and will stop you if it looks too dark.
A friend of mine tinted his pretty dark. A few days later I noticed he had scratched out openings with a key.

I asked him why.

One word reply. "TRAIN"!!

I think he wet his pants.
