There is indeed a wind (motion) detector available for the Travel'R, but the installation requires a fair amount of mechanical knowledge and the ability to access the wiring going out to your awning. And as you can see by my contribution to the attached topics, they are not foolproof. But on my replacement awning I still installed the motion sensing system, but I still bring it in when we leave and there is any forecast of storms!

Those screws will never stay in that cheap (made in china) metal long term. After my original awning collapse in a little rain I had a another upgrade awning installed. Had those same type screws and kept finding loose and ready to fall out. I Finally replaced them with pop rivots and haven't had any further issues.

Just wanted to say Thank You to everyone that helped me resolve this issue. I'm happy to say it all came back together with two screws and a friendly (and tall neighbor) !

Are you sure your Travel'R is a fixed-pitch unit? Are there holes in the arms and small spring-loaded pins you can push in and thereby adjust the pitch of the awning? When I bought my 2014 Seneca there was some debate whether it was an adjustable pitch unit or not, but it was.

You can lower one end to aid in water draining, or you can lower both ends to provide more shade. You don't have to return them back to flat when you stow the awning, even if one end is all the way down you can roll it up back up and it will put itself away properly without changing the pitch setting back to "flat".

I have a driver side slide under my awning and the awning fabric will slightly contact the corners of my slide when pitched all the way down. I keep it at that setting all the time and I have not noticed any problem with the fabric wearing through. I do have the acrylic awning fabric and it is pretty tough!

Not a fan of those wind detectors.

My buddy had one and could not get it adjusted. It was strange sitting under it and the thing is going in and out like a YoYo.

No adjustments possible with Carefree's Direct Response Electronics as installed on a Travel'R (or Eclipse) awning. There is a sensor module installed inside the motor-end head that detects movement of the gears. When the setpoint is reached, awning rewinds. On my (self-installed) Eclipse model the Direct Response system does have a 3-position sensitivity switch so you can choose how much movement it will tolerate before it retracts.

I never had an anemometer-style awning, I heard those were temperamental!
