Carefree power awning

I have a carefree power awning sometimes I use a slide on shade but in order to put it on I have to position the groove on top to slide it on I do have plastic aftermarkt double slide but still have to climb up on a ladder to install has anyone found a workaround for this

Awning shades are available that are in 2 parts that zip together. One part is left in the roller groove and can be rolled up. So when you extend your awning there's a 2 foot additional drop and you may not have to use a ladder…depends on slope of awning and height of operator.
