I've spent some time on my roof washing and sealing it and there is no way i would mount anything up there. Your best bet is to mount it the the roof of a trailered vehicle (TOAD) or get something inflatable that you can put in your storage compartment.

A couple of ideas from GOOGLE Search...

I could probably live with the first one shown but the second extending out over the hood of my truck probably would bother me big time driving...

Of course neither one of these would work if your REDHAWK is a motorhome...

I have this question as well. I have 2 10' kayaks I would love to haul with me. I think the roof is out because of mounting and extra height. Plus getting them up and down.
The Hitch carrier seems the only option but they are expensive.
If I towed then that would be a solution.

My conclusion is that I sell my 2 kayaks and buy an inflatable 2 person

I watched a gentleman at a neighboring Csite last year with one of these mounted on a tow bar attached extended tray. He had 2 Kayaks mounted just like in this pic. Just watching him secure the load, I was concerned with the flex that was obvious top to bottom. Best I could tell there was no strap at the top [bow] to prevent this flex. Never seen one on the road but I wouldn't tailgate the guy out on the road

I think a blow up is the answer.

Beware the added height.. Before you do this measure from the ground to the tip of the bow.. A ten foot boat is now 12 feet high..You have to watch bridges accordingly.

Some cheap Wally World type kayaks are not rigid enough not to flex. In this case the loss would not be much money except if the lost boat causes an accident.

I built this one for less than $150, works great and easy to load.
