I think whether the plug is up or down capillary action (rather than gravity) will cause the melted wax to flow into the screw hole.

The wax worked. I had trouble believing that it would flow up into the threads when it was warmed but it did and I removed it. Another task completed.

Jimmyd, you may be able to fit a slightly larger 8 or 12 point socket over the square head of that plug. I have used that trick before.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

Witt, once the wax crept up the heated plug threads I was able to use an adjustable wrench to remove it.
I coated the threads with wax and then reinstalled it. This should resolve this issue going forward.
Safe travels, Jimmyd

Glad the wax trick worked! Something to file in the back of the mind.

Jimmy...how dirty was the exhaust? Lots of carbon? How many hours on your genny?

Just wanting to know so I can plan ahead...Thanks!

Cabinetmaker, the generator has 53 hours on it and there wasn’t much carbon coming out of the exhaust port. If you heat the generator to remove the plug be cautious. I took a Infrared reading on the plug area of 286 degrees after 5 minutes running. That’s a lot of heat under there. Be careful. Jimmyd
