Cheap simple fix for N8X Fridge

The N8X fridge is what's being installed in the Redhawks now. I have a 2019 22J. The problem with it is the door will eventually sag with use. In turn, the latch won't grab and if you have anything in the door while driving, it can come open. The door has way too much up and down movement. I reached out to Norcold about it and their fix was to take the door off and install washers. Or take it to the dealer and have them do it. I looked at it for a few and didn't see an easy way for the door to come off and I wasn't driving two and a half hours to the dealer for it. I saw where someone used nylon washers, so I did the same. I got some .317 x 1/2 x 1/8 nylon washer from Lowe's. I used snips to cut them. I tried to get it snapped on, but it didn't have enough play. So I cut about an 1/8 of it away and that allowed it to snap right over. Now my door is up, the latch catches, and it's not going to open.

By the way- it's pretty easy to check if you need this- just lift the door up and down and you'll see.

Just curious, in looking at your photo's, it appears that the door hinge is plastic and the mount bracket is steel. What exactly is the cause of the sag. Seems to me some is eventually going to break if it is bending enough to sag.

Nice fix, I'm going to try it. I've been using bungee cord to back up the latch after a couple surprise openings.

Both hinges are metal- which is superior over the last new models of N fridges where they made them plastic. That's a plastic cover you are seeing. I should have said 'play' over 'sag.' I am not sure where it came from, but it wasn't there when new.

This worked great, thank you for that suggestion as our door was coming open too on our 30X and it was getting beyond annoying...

Thanks,
Jeff
