Class 'C' Storage: Jacks down or up?

Hey Gang,

I noticed half of the rigs parked at my storage place have their jacks down, half do not. I assume this is to relieve stress on the suspension and tires as the rigs sit awhile. However, I question if all that 'stress' just gets shunted over to the jacks which might cause them to fail? Or fail sooner?

Do you guys store your motorhome w/ the jacks down or jacks up?

I'm guessing that most of the answers you get here will be opinion and not hard facts derived from any real data. That said, my opinion is to leave them up. I don't want any rust or dirt to build up on the jacks. Tires and suspension aren't going to be stressed any more than if you were driving the rig all the time.

If I recall correctly the Bigfoot manual says keep them up during storage.

jacks up or down

the old story, if you own a sailboat do you store it with the mast up or down, with motorhomes do you store it with jacks up or down, slides in or out, if you use your motorhomes a lot i store mine with the jacks down, and the slides in, for long periods of storage big foot says store up, remember storing up may cause flat spots in tires, again i talked to big foot and they feel it does not make much difference

UP

I live in Canada with some nice cold winters and my jacks are up while in storage for the long winter months.
