Country Fill problems

I have tried to use the country fill option on my 2016 Greyhawk 31FK several times in the two years that we have owned the rig. I have had about 50% success. A few times I set the valves to 1 & 4 and it draws the water in immediately. Other times, like this morning I set the valves to 1 & 4, turned on the pump and no luck at all. I could not get the pump to draw the water into the system.

Can anyone help me understand what I am doing wrong or simply not doing to make this great feature for us boondockers work every time?

Many thanks in advance for the advice.

Flip the inlet screen over to hold the check valve open. Just remember flip it again when done. It's a common issue.

Grumpy, you are just talking about the small conical shaped screen that is attached to the gasket? I just looked at it and saw the valve behind it. I will give it a try tomorrow. Thank you again.

Grumpy, you indicated that this is a common issue - did you ever wonder why these simple, recurring issues are never addressed by Jayco? Sorry, just thinking out loud!

I have the same motorhome.

It's a common issue in two aspects: first, I asked about it, everyone does and second, the Jayco manual doesn't say anything.

To be fair, some folks don't have to flip the screen -- to hold the check valve open. Some do.

Thanks pconroy, my success has been intermittent. Sometime I have not had to, sometimes I wish I had known about the work around. Thanks again.

Usually many dealer's mention it during a PDI, but I agree it should be in the manual.

Why not remove it and use a flat screen washer?

I think they clog faster since the have less surface area.

Raise the jug of water a couple of feet, and make sure your tank drain is fully closed. Sometimes if you start your pump on country fill and quickly open then close your low point drain your pump wil pick up suction.

The cone screen actually pushes the check valve open when turned around, flat screen wouldn't.
