Cross Country trip Seneca trouble list
I started driving across country on my 2012 Seneca and these are the issues I have had so far:
- Freezing up rear AC unit. Evidently something internal (per Coleman) replaced with new unit.
- Rear Slide Schwintek rail eat up and skipping. Slide will not fully retract. Repair kit had to be made by manufacture. I will have this tomorrow morning in Colorado where I am at.
- Alternator charging issues. Replaced with new alternator from Freightliner on the road. Make sure you are at a truckstop with a shop if you attempt doing this yourself. The pulley is impossible to get off manually without a puller.
- Hot water heater working sporadically. Not fixed yet
- Door covering LP tank hinge pin snapped this afternoon in Durago CO. I have the stuff to fix it with me and will do it later tonight.
- Yakima bike rack on rear collapsed downtown Nashville TN at intersection of I-40 and I-24. The people blowing their horns at me finally got my attention...lol. No damage to bikes, I drilled new holes and repaired bike rack beside the road. These RV's amplify the leverage on the rack. This was a top of the line Yakima that started sheering metal due to the added force.
- Generator losing prime on fuel for some reason if it sits a day without using . It takes some time to prime out the air and get it started. It runs great afterwards. Anyone else had that issue? No, I am not running the fuel low for it to not be high enough for the pickup tube.
Lucky for my wife, kids and in-laws I can fix just about anything. I was not expecting it to be a full time job while traveling though.
