Deborahann 2019 jayco class C engine battery is dead

We purchased a brand new 2019 jayco class C. I ran the engine for at least 20 min throughout the winter. Now the engine battery is dead. Used the start button to get it started. Engine was running fine. A week later engine battery is dead again. Nothing is on to drain it. Any suggestions of what the cause is?

Could just be a bad battery.
Rare, but it happens.

Any auto shop can load test it for you.

You're sure nothing is on to drain it?
I killed mine once by leaving a small inverter plugged in for a few weeks.

Our Motorcraft chassis battery was bad when we got our coach. It would start but the indicator on top of the battery only showed red. I made the dealer change it out before delivery. He took it to Ford and they swapped it out for them.

Dealer said that the coach chassis sit at Jayco for several months before build and the batteries go bad. Then they might sit at the dealers for months.

My guess is your battery is shot.

Be advised that the chassis battery does not charge off the converter when the motorhome is plugged in to 120volts. Only the coach battery charges off the converter.

I always plug a trickle charger to my chassis battery when storing. Camping it is usually ok for a couple weeks at a time but if I'm staying put for more than that I will connect my charger while camping.

Funny how the chassis alternator will charge both chassis and coach batteries but converter will only charge the coach battery. They make a deal you can install that will allow the converter to charge both. I don't remember what it's called. Someone else might have information on that. Another project on my list.

My battery was shot when I picked up the brand new unit too. It's from sitting around during production.

I called the dealer, got the typical dance around. I just went and bought a new battery at Walmart, simpler than waiting, driving and dealing with the dealer or Ford.

Thank you, we took it for an inspection and it was the battery. They replaced it for free because it is under warranty.

Thank you, it was a bad battery. Took it for inspection and they tested the battery and replaced it for free because it was under warranty! This is all new to my husband and I, we always towed our campers.

My battery was bad too, brand new, was showing "red" in the eye of the factory Ford battery and would drop to less than 12 volts after a week.. I just went and bought a new battery. My dealer said to take the coach to Ford and they would replace it, but it wasn't worth the hassle. I picked up a better battery with a higher rating from Wally World and put it in.

Go check the battery in the coach too, there's a chance that it may be weak too.
